Hello. Salutations. Hola. Ni Hao. Namaste.
My name is Andy. Its good to meet you. It feels like we’re old friends having a chance moment passing by. How are you? I hope you’re well. Me? I’m currently navigating the pressures of early career information science. The tedium of staying abreast of trends, technology, techniques and other catch all words to say keeping up with the Joneses. Currently, I am an early career Librarian but I’m not entirely new. I’ve been doing this for about 2 years and plan on continuing. I went to college for this. Twice. First for my bachelors degree which was a grueling testament to the human spirit, its difficulty only eclipsed by the future Sisyphean payback of student loans and second for my Masters degree which all in all was a poultice on my growing dread of more learning.
So what’s this all about you ask? The process my friend. In my travels I had always sought out sources of experience for things that I was new to learning. Often, I found that the source was too daunting to tackle all at once. If you’re like me, you like to learn, to express, to better yourself. This page is intended to elucidate some of the mysteries of Information science and its adjacent fields, subjects, topics, and challenges. Stick with me, as we go on this journey together. Lets keep it light and picture the heroes; us. We’ve been given the task of embarking on a quest to because more knowledgeable, more productive, more proficient with new tools and the things we have. We don’t know where this quest will take us, but we are more than sure that we will be able to work through the obstacles. Will we defeat the big bad and unite the information world? Who knows, but the process is what matters.
Occasionally I may have a stray post about something interesting to rest at our metaphorical camp and rejuvenate. All work and no play makes for a very dull information professional.
So with that said, Get some rest. Because tomorrow we gird our loins and set out at dawn.
best.
